The Founder and Executive Director of Practical Living Institute (PLI) is Barbara J. Davis.  She is an
    international conference and retreat speaker. She has a Master of Arts degree from Michigan State University
    and has studied at Capital Bible Seminary and Howard University School of Divinity. She is a Doctoral
    candidate in Church Leadership at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.  Barbara
    has traveled to over 35 countries in North America, Europe, Asia, South America, and Africa.  She has worked
    extensively with women in Sierra Leone, Ghana, Senegal, Zambia, Kenya, Tanzania, Bolivia, and Egypt. She
    also worked with homeless women in Prince George's County, Maryland.  Barbara is currently Project Director
    for Project Destiny, a program that helps Sudanese refugee women  living in Egypt and the disenfranchised
    Egyptian women to improve their quality of life.  

    Barbara has received many awards and recognitions. Senegal, West Africa honored her for her work in helping
    its citizens to excel.  She received the prestigious Delta Sigma Theta Fortitude Image Award for her work in
    international awareness and involvement. Rotary Club International honored Barbara for her international
    work in South America and Africa. Barbara also received a Proclamation by the County Executive of Prince
    George's County, Maryland for outstanding service to the Senegal Friendship Committee of Prince George's
    County.
